First-Person Research

The primary objective of HEAL's participatory first-person action research is internal validation by the participant, grounded directly in their own lived, subjective experience. Rather than relying on external third-person metrics, practitioners utilize the HEAL framework—specifically navigating through the eXperience Matrix, the process-oriented language of Rheomode X, and the Body Matrix Decoder—to independently map, decode, and verify their own somatic and emotional signs in real time. The scientific rigor of this first-person methodology stems from its sustained heuristic consistency, high inter-rater reliability across thousands of participant observations, and precise operationalization of internal states. By engaging the body as a living laboratory to systematically trace physical sensations back to their active background patterns, participants achieve immediate experiential verification. This rigorous, self-directed validation process allows unresolved experiences to complete their natural cycle and return to dynamic allostasis—demonstrating that disciplined, first-person inquiry serves as a powerful and valid methodology for uncovering pioneering discoveries at the intersection of, among others, consciousness, biosemiotics, neurophysiology, and AI engineering.
